How to Know if Someone Rejected Your Connection Request on LinkedIn?

When you send a connection request and it remains pending for an extended period, there are two scenarios: the recipient either consciously chose to click the “Ignore” button, or they opted to take no action after viewing your request.

Accept or Ignore Button on LinkedIn

In the first scenario, if the recipient clicks the “ignore” button, it indicates a rejection of your request, signaling that they do not wish to connect with you.

In the second scenario, where the recipient takes no action on the connect request, it will remain in their LinkedIn invitation box, appearing as a new message.

The recipient will receive a notification from LinkedIn via email regarding the request. If they choose to click on the “Ignore” button, your connection request will be permanently deleted.

To determine whether your request has been rejected or remains pending in the recipient’s invitation box, you can visit the recipient’s profile. If you see a “Connect” button, it indicates that the recipient has ignored your request. At this point, you can resend the connection request after a waiting period of three weeks from the date of the initial rejection.

Connect Button on LinkedIn Profile

If you notice the “Pending” button on their profile, it indicates that your request is still awaiting the recipient’s response in their invitation inbox.

Remember, your invitation request will expire by default after six months. If you still wish to connect after that, you’ll need to resend the request.

Does LinkedIn Notify me if Someone Declines or Ignore my Request?

The simple answer is no, the sender does not receive any notification if the recipient rejects or ignores the request. Notifications are only sent to the sender when the connection request is accepted.

If I Decline a LinkedIn Request Will They Know?

Likewise, there’s no notification system on LinkedIn in order to alert you when your connection request is declined. And if you choose to ignore or reject someone else’s connect request, they won’t receive any notification either.

Can You Resend a Connection Request on LinkedIn?

Yes, After withdrawing or being rejected by the recipient, you can resend an invitation or connect request after a waiting period of three weeks.

How Do You Know If Someone Accepted Your LinkedIn Request?

When someone accepts your connection request on LinkedIn, you’ll get a notification saying that the individual has accepted your invitation. It’s a quick and easy way to know that they’ve agreed to connect with you on the platform.
